MarketGuard setup tutorial
Last updated 14 September 2026
1. Install and review access
Install MarketGuard from Shopify Admin and review the requested permissions. Monitoring begins only for your authenticated shop.
2. Choose Markets
Open Markets, review the active regional Markets MarketGuard discovered, and select the ones you expect to sell in. Your plan determines how many can be monitored.
3. Choose products
Open Products and select the catalogue items that matter most. Products beyond the plan limit remain clearly marked Not monitored.
4. Run the first verification
Select Verify now. You may leave the page while the scan runs. When Shopify cannot return complete evidence, MarketGuard reports Couldn’t verify and retries later instead of guessing.
5. Review and fix findings
Use Home for the summary, Findings for current issues, Changes for transitions, and Product detail for Market-specific evidence. Follow the Shopify Admin link shown with a finding to change the underlying setting.
6. Configure optional alerts
On Notifications, connect your provider, save recipients, choose alert types, and send a test. Delivery history shows the provider result.
7. Configure Currency Guard only when needed
Choose an eligible product, target Market, country, currency and fixed prices. Review the confirmation carefully: setup can make that product non-shippable, update its selected Market prices, and require a single-product checkout in the chosen currency.
Keep monitoring useful
Review new findings, resolve intentional exclusions, update selected Markets as the store changes, and check Scan history when a verification is delayed. See the documentation or contact support.
